Prinova signs exclusive DACH distribution deal for Aquamin marine minerals
Prinova Europe has been awarded exclusive distribution rights for Aquamin marine minerals across the DACH region (Germany, Austria and Switzerland).
Developed by Marigot, the Aquamin range of highly bioactive minerals includes calcium, magnesium and 72 other trace minerals, all sustainably derived from marine sources. The efficacy of Aquamin for digestive, bone and joint health is substantiated by 17 years of scientific research and over 50 peer-reviewed publications.
Aquamin also offers enhanced bioavailability over regular calcium and magnesium products. This is due to the presence of naturally occurring trace elements, which work synergistically within the multi-mineral matrix to powerfully boost the action of calcium and magnesium.
Following an agreement with Marigot in December, Prinova will exclusively distribute Aquamin in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland.

Aquamin
Aquamin is a multi-mineral complex produced from calcareous marine red algae (Lithothamnion sp), which absorbs essential nutrients from the sea as it grows. The algae is abundant in the cool, clean waters of the North Atlantic around the Icelandic coast, where it is sustainably harvested under an exclusive licence. Only non-live seaweed is harvested, ensuring deposits can regenerate.
Aquamin’ s rare biochemical functionality has been shown in human studies to support optimum bone condition for osteoporosis and osteopaenia, and to potentially aid gastrointestinal tract health, delivering digestive comfort. It has also been shown to exert beneficial effects on the symptoms of osteoarthritis, decreasing pain and stiffness and increasing mobility and walking distance.
Aquamin is available in five grades:
- Aquamin F (32% calcium) is a versatile ingredient for use in solid and semi-solid food applications, including bakery, cereals, snacks, rice, pasta, congee, plant-based beverages, ice cream, confectionery, dairy, instant drinks and processed meat, fish and poultry
- Aquamin AG (30% calcium) has been developed for use in plant-based beverages, providing enhanced dispersion and suspension properties
- Aquamin S (17% calcium) ideal low pH applications, including beverages such as juices, fruit preparations, dairy products, frozen desserts and confectionery
- Aquamin Soluble (12% calcium) works well with low pH applications and clear beverages, making it ideal for sports drinks, functional beverages and powdered sachets
- Aquamin TG (30% calcium) is a granulated grade for tablet and capsule applications. Unmodified corn starch is added as the granulating agent
All products are 100% plant-based and support EFSA claims for calcium. They are also non-allergenic and suitable for vegan diets.
Aquamin Mg
Produced from the pristine waters of the Irish Sea, Aquamin Mg is a non-Dolomite form of magnesium. As well as being rich in magnesium (minimum 33% in hydroxide form), it contains important co-factors and trace minerals from seawater, ensuring greater bioactivity than magnesium alone.1
Magnesium is necessary for over 300 metabolic reactions in the body, including the maintenance of nerve and muscle function, bone integrity, heart rhythm, blood pressure, and glucose and insulin metabolism. It also supports gut health and immunity, stress resilience and cognitive health, and assists in the reduction of tiredness and fatigue.
Aquamin Mg is supported by a growing research programme. Studies conducted at University College Cork, Ireland, confirm its uniquely high bioavailability (the amount of magnesium absorbed into the body from the intestine). It also has high bioaccessibility (the amount of magnesium released during the acid phase of the gastrointestinal tract to make it available for absorption into the body). In an in vitro model of the gut, Aquamin Mg released magnesium similarly to water-soluble magnesium chloride, and significantly better than magnesium oxide.1

- Aquamin Mg AG (33% magnesium) is a free-flowing powder optimised for lifestyle nutrition, food and supplements. Gum Arabic is added for improved functionality, including flowability and compression properties
- Aquamin Mg TG (33% magnesium) is a free-flowing granule grade designed for supplements, with unmodified corn starch added as the granulating agent
- Aquamin Mg Soluble (10-12% magnesium) is a readily soluble form suitable for sports beverages, sachets and effervescent applications. It is soluble in aqueous systems
